With the election almost over, what are you going to do?
Barring any legal challenges or something we just couldn’t imagine, this time tomorrow morning we will know who will serve as President of the United States of America for the next four years.
That decision being made will bring an end to an intense couple of years of political activism that have animated and activated millions of citizens.
What will they have to do now?
Let me suggest to all those Christians who have been not only active in this presidential debate, but often just as rancorous and belligerent as anyone else, that you turn your attention back to the One you claim really matters. The One you claim is the answer for the entire world.
That isn’t the attitude that has been on display by many Christians during this election cycle. You would think the well-being of the world rested on the shoulders of a Republican getting elected to the office of President.
But let’s be reminded of the truth: the single hope for the world is Jesus Christ.
So why not spend the next couple years pitching Jesus with the same commitment and fervor you’ve poured out on behalf of a human being?
Why not represent Him, share Him, promote Him, and finance Him the same way you’ve been backing a political candidate (except with a little more Christlikeness this time)?
If your profession of Christ being Lord of lords is true for you, why would you do less for Jesus and more for Mitt Romney? Or Barack Obama? Or Gary Johnson? Or Ron Paul?
If you really believe that Jesus Christ CAN change lives, then why don’t you back Him with the same level of intensity and commitment?
The future of this world, and every soul that populates it, is in the hands of Jesus Christ. No politician, parliament, or military will ever rival what Jesus Christ can do.
And what precisely is that?
The answer is in that short little phrase Christians used to bandy about all the time. It’s this:
Scotty
