We can’t be fixed, BUT …

We can’t be “fixed.”

When sin came into our lives, we were so shattered that we died, spiritually.

We can’t fix death.

BUT …

… I know someone who can!

Jesus knows exactly how to “fix” the human problem of sin and its consequences of death …

Jesus replied, “I tell you the truth, unless you are born again, you cannot see the Kingdom of God.” – John 3:3.

The shattering of our lives by the impact of sin sends us scampering for ways to feel alive and find purpose, nothing of which will satisfy or meet our real need other than Jesus Christ. Deep down, we know it will take a whole new start to “fix” things.

In the book, “Irresistible Evangelism,” (by Steve Sjogren, Dave Ping, Doug Pollock, – Group Publishing) there’s a story told by Jan, a staffer with Athletes in Action, which goes as follows …

“After attending a conference where the importance of listening to unsaved people was stressed, Jan and others were relaxing in the hotel whirlpool. Two adolescent girls joined them in the tub. One of the teens, named Brittany, began passionately telling her friend about an upcoming Wiccan gathering she was planning to attend. (Wiccans make up a religion that believes in many gods under a mother goddess. Their religion includes the use of herbal magic and witchcraft.)

“Normally we would have tried to counter the girl’s ideas, but we decided to listen instead. I said something simple like, ‘Wow, you really sound excited about this!’ This was all the encouragement she needed to launch into a five-minute explanation of why she was so attracted to neo-pagan rituals. The bottom line was that she’d had a really traumatic time in high school and the Wiccans accepted her. She said, ‘I’ve gone through so much stuff just trying to make it through high school that I’ll probably be in therapy for the rest of my life!’ I tried to mirror back what she said with, ‘It’s hard for you to even imagine a future where you’d be free from all of the pain you’ve gone through?’

“What came next completely floored me. With a film of tears starting to form in her eyes and with complete sincerity in her voice, she said, ‘Sometimes I wish I could be born all over again. I’d really like to start over from scratch.’ After a long pause, my friend asked if she would really like to be born again. She said, ‘Yes, I really would.'”

Jesus doesn’t use duct tape on us, He doesn’t attempt to “fix” us. Instead, we can be buried with Christ in baptism and raised to walk in newness of life!

“For we died and were buried with Christ by baptism. And just as Christ was raised from the dead by the glorious power of the Father, now we also may live new lives,” Romans 6:4

Through Jesus Christ we are born again as new creations …

“This means that anyone who belongs to Christ has become a new person. The old life is gone; a new life has begun!” 2 Corinthians 5:17.

“My old self has been crucified with Christ. It is no longer I who live, but Christ lives in me. So I live in this earthly body by trusting in the Son of God, who loved me and gave himself for me,” Galatians 2:20.

Have you accepted the new life Jesus Christ offers you, or are you still looking for a “fix”?
