Get WITH it!
Do you remember those days of young love?
Life was going along just fine when that person walked into your life and up-ended the normal. Then, all you could think about was spending time with them.
Work days felt longer until you could finally clock out and be with this person who had captivated you.
Maybe it’s something other than young love that has captured your attention, and you just can’t wait to be with someone for some purpose.
During the holidays, kids get so excited over presents, but adults get excited about being able to spend time with the people they’ll celebrate the holiday with.
Time with people you love is priceless!
Christmas is about God coming to earth to be with us!
All of heaven was so excited about the very idea of God being with man that it couldn’t contain itself …
“Suddenly, the angel was joined by a vast host of others — the armies of heaven — praising God and saying, ‘Glory to God in highest heaven, and peace on earth to those with whom God is pleased,’” Luke 2:13.
It is important to God that He be with us, that we be with Him. That visit to earth starting with the first Christmas was just the first step in working out a plan that would make a way so that we could have God with us our entire lives here on earth, and then provide the means so that we could forever be with Him! The One who lay in a lowly manger that first Christmas would later say this …
“Don’t let your hearts be troubled. Trust in God, and trust also in me. There is more than enough room in my Father’s home. If this were not so, would I have told you that I am going to prepare a place for you? When everything is ready, I will come and get you, so that you will always be with me where I am,” John 14:1-3.
All of heaven was ecstatic about God being with man when Jesus was born — but how excited are we about being with Christ? It’s a profound topic that deserves serious thought and study. To help you with that, let me point you to a book I first reviewed in 2011 written by Skye Jethani that’s aptly and simply titled, “With.” You can find my original review of the book by clicking here. I strongly encourage you to get the book and explore at a much deeper level this vital topic of living each day of your life WITH God.
Christmas reminds us that being with us is important to God – is being with God important to you?
