You’ll need a piece of paper for this …

Here’s a very important exercise, but you’ll need a piece of paper and a pen or pencil for this. I’ll wait here while you get it …

Got it?

Okay, first we start with a verse of scripture:

“Do not waste time arguing over godless ideas and old wives’ tales. Instead, train yourself to be godly.” – 1 Timothy 4:7.

Now, using the piece of paper and pen or pencil, write out what your consistent, comprehensive plan is that you execute each day for training yourself in godliness.

Go head and write that out, I’ll wait …

Hmmm, you didn’t really write down “10 minute Bible devotion a few times each week” did you? There’s nothing wrong with that, but you don’t really think that is sufficient for training yourself in godliness do you?

Or the couple of minutes of prayer each day … or most days, anyway?

The greatest training you’ll ever have in your lifetime is for a lifetime of godliness. So what are you doing to seriously, comprehensively, successfully train yourself for godliness?

You don’t really have a plan?

Let me suggest before getting up, before putting away the paper, you spend some time in prayer and then put to use your paper and writing instrument to get serious in writing out a plan for what you’re willing to fully commit to and execute for training yourself in godliness.
