You can’t fool God …

Some people like to fool themselves into thinking that even when purposely choosing to live a sinful lifestyle that God isn’t really bothered by it, after all, they’re living comfortably.

Why, they’re living a blessed life!

No. They may be living something more like this …

There’s a story about a pastor who had been very busy for a long time, so he decided to take Sunday off and go play golf. So he contacted his elders and told them he had been invited to preach in a neighboring city and he would be away Sunday and so he arranged for someone to take his place preaching. The following Sunday came and the Lord looked down as the pastor was about to take his first swing. Speaking to an angel, he said, “Watch this. I’ll teach him a lesson.”

The pastor swung and his first shot was a hole in one. Then he lined up again and again and each time got a hole in one. After a while the angel could contain himself no longer. “Lord,” he said, “I thought you were going to teach him a lesson.”

The Lord smiled and said, “Think about it. He’s never had a hole in one in his life before and now he’s got all these. Who can he tell?”

The Apostle Paul provides us with a moral to this story: “Don’t be misled — you cannot mock the justice of God. You will always harvest what you plant,” Galatians 6:7.
