COMMUNION MEDITATION: The view from heaven …

Davon Huss, a hospice minister, once shared this story …

I can imagine that when the Lord Jesus went to the cross and His disciples scattered, when the nails were driven in and the forces of hell were cackling with glee, when the Savior breathed his last and it looked like all His work had come to naught, an angel in heaven turned to another and said, “So- we have won.”

When we partake of Communion – the bread representing the broken body of Jesus, the wine representing His shed blood – we do not participate in viewing what might look like to some as a terrible defeat; instead, we share the view from heaven of what Jesus has done through His sacrfice: He has won!

Here’s what heaven saw in the broken, poured out Christ:

“Christ suffered for our sins once for all time. He never sinned, but he died for sinners to bring you safely home to God. He suffered physical death, but he was raised to life in the Spirit,” 1 Peter 3:18.

So – we have won!
