An event no one will sleep through …

My dad could sleep through anything.

A key reason why was, while serving in the Navy during World War II he was wounded, resulting in some loss of hearing in one ear. Because of that, it was hard to wake up my dad when he was sound asleep, and even harder when he was sleeping on his “good ear.”

The real challenge was that you couldn’t wake my dad by touching or shaking him; his military training had conditioned him to come up swinging when touched or startled awake. So waking him often meant standing by his bed and yelling at him until he finally awoke to your bellows.

Some people can sleep through anything!

Most of the world slept that first Christmas night when the most spectator of events was happening — a Savior was born. Some nearby shepherds were stirred by excited angels, and those shepherds would wake some people in Bethlehem in their search for this newborn Savior, but everyone else snoozed through the biggest event in human history.

Well, Jesus has come, has done everything necessary to save humankind from sin and death, and has returned to heaven.

But He’s coming back … and no one will sleep through His second coming!

“Look! He comes with the clouds of heaven. And everyone will see him — even those who pierced him. And all the nations of the world will mourn for him. Yes! Amen!,” Revelation 1:7.

Are you ready for His return?
