For innately selfish beings, we can be fairly stupid …

You would think if we’re going to insist on being selfish, on being the “god” of our own lives, then we would make decisions that are good for us. That wouldn’t include spiritually, because insisting to live selfishly is one of the worst possible decisions we could ever make.

But, if we insist on being selfish, you would think we would make wise and beneficial decisions for …

… our minds …

… our bodies …

… our relationships …

… but we don’t.

We flood our minds with junk, stuff our bodies with other junk and abuse them, and we’re moral failures when it comes to how we interact with other people.

Being selfish does not lead to a rich and satisfying life.

But surrendering our lives in their entirety to the Lordship of Jesus Christ does. It’s a reason why He left the splendors of heaven to come to this Earth …

“The thief’s purpose is to steal and kill and destroy. My purpose is to give them a rich and satisfying life,” John 10:10.

Jesus can provide a life that is truly “rich and satisfying” by freeing us from the one thing that causes us to be selfish and make stupid decisions — the bondage of sin. When we enter into a covenant relationship with Him, God transforms our minds, sets us free from the bondage of sin, we receive the Holy Spirit who takes up residence inside us to personally choreograph the transformation of our lives, and directs a life-long process of making us more and more like Jesus.

And being like Jesus is the epitome of a rich and satisfying life.

What kind of life are you leading now?
