Eight responses to receiving weird Christmas gifts …

That wise guru, “Source Unknown,” has struck once again, this time offering his wisdom regarding what to say when someone gives you a really weird Christmas gift. In this case, he offers eight suggestions.

8. Well, well, well, now, there’s a gift!

7. No, really, I didn’t know there was a Chia pet tie! Oh, wow! It’s a clip-on too!

6. You know, I always wanted one of these! Jog my memory — what’s it called again?

5. You know what? I’m going to find a special place to put this!

4. Boy, you don’t see craftsmanship like that every day!

3. … And it’s such an interesting color, too!

2. You say that was the last one? Am I glad that you snapped that baby up!

And the number one thing to say about the gifts you didn’t like is: “You shouldn’t have! No, really, I mean it, you really shouldn’t have!”

Those suggestions might come in handy for you this Christmas!

Now let me ask you: What’s a good response to being given a wondrous, amazing, astounding Christmas gift?

Maybe scripture can help us out with an answer to that question. It was on that first Christmas that the world receive the greatest gift ever given to humanity:

“For this is how God loved the world: He gave his one and only Son …” John 3:16a.

“So the Word became human and made his home among us. He was full of unfailing love and faithfulness. And we have seen his glory, the glory of the Father’s one and only Son,” John 1:14.

No gift has ever measured up to that of God giving us His Son, who was given for a purpose:

“For this is how God loved the world: He gave his one and only Son, so that everyone who believes in him will not perish but have eternal life,” John 3:16.

How do you respond to that?

Let’s look at how the citizens of heaven responded:

“That night there were shepherds staying in the fields nearby, guarding their flocks of sheep. Suddenly, an angel of the Lord appeared among them, and the radiance of the Lord’s glory surrounded them. They were terrified, but the angel reassured them. ‘Don’t be afraid!’ he said. ‘I bring you good news that will bring great joy to all people. The Savior — yes, the Messiah, the Lord — has been born today in Bethlehem, the city of David! And you will recognize him by this sign: You will find a baby wrapped snugly in strips of cloth, lying in a manger.’ Suddenly, the angel was joined by a vast host of others — the armies of heaven — praising God and saying, ‘Glory to God in highest heaven, and peace on earth to those with whom God is pleased,'” Luke 2:8-14.

When the armies of heaven saw that God had given His Son to the world, they could not contain themselves and broke out in unbridled praise and worship!

How else should we respond to such a wondrous, amazing, astounding giving of a gift?

What’s your response?
