What model year of you are you taking into 2020?
If you’ve followed Scott Free Clinic for any time, you know we’re in desperate need of replacing our ministry vehicle, which is a 21-year-old clunker in need of multiple repairs.
This is the second time in years I’ve driven a used car. It used to be, when I had the resources, that I would trade in for a new vehicle every three to four years. That was because I’m not a mechanic but I’m a high mileage driver. By three to four years of having a vehicle, I usually would have racked up at least a couple hundred thousand miles and the vehicle would be at that stage of needing some serious costly repairs. It worked best at that season in life to replace them regularly.
Some people have great mechanical skills and can keep their used vehicles going long beyond the point I could do anything with them. Whether you like or are driving a new or used vehicle, what’s important is it’s reliability as your means of transportation.
As I was thinking about the ministry’s need for a new vehicle, it made me think about how many people will roll into 2020 with old models of themselves that really need upgrading!
What model of you will you be taking into 2020?
Will it be the person from 1989 who has been so entrenched in your ways you’ve failed to move forward and sit stuck in the past?
How about a classic from the 50’s that’s fully refurbished and functions as good as ever?
Is it a 2001 model, that has come along some but has gotten comfortable and has insisted in sitting in that old time of comfort?
Will it be that 2010 model that started having problems functioning right 10 years ago and is in serious need of repairs?
Or will it be a 2019 model you’re happy to exchange for a new 2020, fully engaged in today and ready to move into the future God has for you?
