Congratulations graduates!

It’s “graduation season” which means there will be many speeches given on the great things to be done now that the graduates have completed this level of their education, and there will be a plethora of heartwarming stories told as well.

For example, here’s a graduation tidbit shared by Cybersalt.org:

The high school valedictorian was required to give a speech. He began by reading from his prepared text.

“I want to talk about my mother and the wonderful influence she has had on my life,” he told the audience. “She is a shining example of parenthood, and I love her more than words could ever do justice.”

At this point he seemed to struggle for words. After a pause he looked up with a sly grin and said, “It’s really hard to read my mom’s handwriting.”

Littered throughout those many graduation speeches will be sincere thanks expressed to many people who helped the graduates achieve their educational success. And that’s good to do, as many students have achieved in their education because of the support and encouragement from family, friends, and others.

BUT …

I’m not going to write about any of that.

Nor am I going to do what I am most tempted to do, which is write about the need to keep on learning and to be a life long learner.

Not going to do it!

Not this time.

On behalf of your friends at Scott Free Clinic, we simply want to say to all the graduates, “Congratulations!”

In spite of all the help, encouragement, and support of any kind, you’re graduating because YOU did the hard work, YOU persisted, YOU accomplished all that it took — you earned your diploma or degree.

Congratulations!

Well done!

And may God bless you as you go forward!
