SFC’s 10th anniversary arrives with a massive ministry crescendo …
One definition for the word “crescendo” is “the highest point reached in a progressive increase of intensity.” That’s an accurate description to describe what’s happening with the international ministry of Scott Free Clinic as we observed, and have pushed past, our 10th anniversary.
As the 10-year mark for helping people around the world change their lives arrived, we had already been experiencing persistent, and peak demand for our eight free core services — that continues.
Now, on top of that, two major consulting projects are impacting this ministry:
The first is that I just returned from Addis Ababa, Ethiopia where I participated in the launch of a massive new ministry for all of Africa called the “Union of African Peace Makers” (UAPM). SFC’s participation came about because we provide consulting to John Hendee, who is the founder of the international ministry, You Share Jesus. About a half century ago, John developed an evangelistic tool (now called “The Answer”) — paired with a simple but effective methodology — that is the most effective evangelistic tool I’ve ever seen (which is why I have used it personally and as a pastor in multiple churches for 40+ years). Thousands of people around the world have been trained to use this Gospel presentation, resulting in hundreds of thousands of people coming into a covenant relationship with Jesus Christ. Because of the effectiveness of this tool, church leaders in Africa have stepped out to form the UAPM, which will have a primary a secondary focus: the primary focus is to train Christians, church leaders, churches and Christian ministries and organizations throughout all of Africa how to effectively present the Gospel using The Answer model, and the secondary focus is to be a central hub for connecting ministries in Africa so that churches can identify and connect with them so they can all work together better to make disciples and serve the people throughout the continent.
SFC’s participation in this new ministry included my speaking on three occasions at the launch conference, and meeting with a variety of church and ministry leaders throughout Africa and other countries to see how SFC can serve them. Additionally, SFC has been asked to consider teaching three of a handful of core training courses that will be provided to African church leaders, and to take the lead in developing plans for evangelism training to meet two needs in Uganda in early 2025 — one working with a church leader who provides leadership for 300 churches, the other working with a church leader who leads the church growth department for 30,000 churches. Also, SFC will be consulting with Pakistani church leaders in the areas of evangelism, Christian education, and family ministry, and will likely be consulting on developing and providing Christian clinical counseling in Kenya for hundreds of churches and several theological institutions.
There may be more that we’ll be involved with regarding the UAPM.
Just prior to going to Ethiopia, I concluded final plans for a second major consulting project for SFC regarding serving the needs of a San Diego area church. This project entails my serving as interim pastor on a part-time basis, and consulting with the team of elders and the church’s search committee in their search for their next lead pastor. I begin preaching regularly at this church this Sunday, and look forward to serving this congregation during their time of transition.
All of this is on top of maintaining SFC’s regular eight core services.
That, my friends, is a crescendo!
And it doesn’t represent all the requests for help SFC routinely receives.
Now 10 years in, Scott Free Clinic has seen the faithfulness of God to use this ministry to change the lives of thousands of people, to support church leaders, and help churches and Christian organizations improve their ministries and accomplish their mission. All of that while being a very, very poor ministry that still operates at minimal capacity.
“Minimal capacity” meaning never having a single month knowing whether we’ll receive enough donations to keep operating.
That means we greatly need YOUR help, and in two ways:
1. Pray for us. In fact, please consider becoming a SFC Prayer Partner. It’s easy, but oh so important for us! Check out my short video explaining what a SFC Prayer Partner does, how easy it is to do, and how to become a Prayer Partner – you can find that video by clicking here.
2. We GREATLY need your financial support – whether it’s making the most generous donation possible (no matter how small!), and/or while doing that, becoming a regular (monthly) Care Partner with us. You can make a donation, and find out more about being a Care Partner, by clicking here.
I think 2025 will be an exciting year!

Hello dr. Attappattu! I was literally on a phone call with John Hendee when I received the notice of your comment! John shared with me your interest, and I know he’ll be in touch with you about working together on doing this work with you. God bless you!
